  • can i use this for my project? im doing one on cinco de mayo, and my teacher said "try to find a video of a cinco de mayo celebration on youtube". but this (i hope) will be a good enough substitute.

  • Americans originally celebrated Cinco de Mayo because the French defeat at Puebla discouraged the French from trying to use Mexico as a base. Their plan was to support the South in the Civil war, take over the U.S. and continue slavery. Mexico was vehemently against slavery. If it wasn't for Mexico winning that battle, we might all be speaking French, we'd be an entirely different country, and slavery would have gone on much longer. THAT is why Cinco is significant to Americans.
