first round was by accident, lol. i really don't like to play as robot smoke or kabal. they are both Goof-Around characters to me, lol

that's only possible at the Finish Him part of the match. Once the match is over, uppercut recovery time is disabled and you are free to do multiple uppercuts, this was so that you could begin to setup the fatality sooner without being stuck in a delay from the uppercut. It can be abused to do long chain combos.
