We've made a lot of progress together -- repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," passing hate crimes legislation, and more. But there's a lot left to do. Check out these highlights from President Obama's speech at the Human Rights Campaign's annual dinner, then add your name and say you'll stand with the President for the fights ahead.

  • This is one of the many reasons I actually like Obama. DADT has been repealed under his presidency, which now allows me, as a lesbian, to serve openly in the US Navy. Thank you Obama.

  • But jail for unlimited time without reason, that will bring us Equality!

  • @natashalahera The presidents job is to put weight behind issues that he believes the people of the country want or deserve. The people that want that change are the people that need to be committed to the cause. And if they stay committed the president will hear about it... you only hope the president will listen and actually speak up and do something about it. So lets not pick on Obama about things you are having a feeling about and lets just observe what he says and then does.

  • That suit was gorgeous! Or was that a tuxedo?

  • @Ninja123101 Well, we still run on gasoline because alternative methods are still too expensive... why do you think most people still have gas powered cars... I don't have the money to go buy a hybrid, etc.

I'm not saying Obama is perfect, but I have more to be proud of from him, than Bush... I can't compare any other presidents, as I've only been alive since 1990...

  • @CJCA915 Again with the comparing. This guy's campain is funded by a bunch of Wall street bankers! His agenda actually very similar to Bush's. He's just the iron fist in a velvet glove where Bush was just the iron fist. Why do think we still run on gasoline? He's a Chicago politician! That's simply how they roll! Don't you find it a little odd that his crappily made "budget" came out all the way toward the end of his term?! I have no partisan bias, and I can see right through this guy!

  • @Ninja123101 I can say I feel better about Obama than what might have ensued if McCain was president...

From what I hear, the taxes we American's pay are far less than other countries...

Obama hasn't done nearly the crap Bush did...

  • @henhouse Not true, he has spent his 4 years fighting the downward spiral BUSH shoved us into. You can't stop a speeding train with just a few pieces of paper. It has taken a LOT of work to slow it down to where it CAN be stopped. The Republicans however, want to start it right back up and turn on the turbo as well. Republicans are all for THEIR America, a land where the rich are gods and unquestionable, and god help you if you aren't rich, cause they sure as hell won't give a shit!

  • @CJCA915 You're comparing two people that epically failed our country. It doesn't matter that he creates jobs if he continues to raise the debt ceiling and taxes get higher as a result.

  • @CJCA915 I know that DADT is old news. Let me rephrase, what I meant is that he doesn't sound sincere. I understand that Obama isn't the homophobe that most of the other candidates are, but when he speaks about gay rights, I feel like he's forcing himself to say those things because it's expected of him as a Democrat and he's okay with it, but not because he's all that committed to the cause.
