  • Quints were implemented in St.Louis because the department wanted to fuck the ranks by cutting staff. The city has zero money and can't scratch it's ass for a nickel so every dime is essential. Why they have a 125' foot ladder in that city befuddles me, they never use it. The St.Louis jew is in control there.

  • Uh...they may never use it, but it is there incase they do. There are a lot of high-rise buildings in STL.

  • Didn't StLfd get about 30 of those Smeal quints in 2002-2003

  • Something like that... I wonder what brand they are going to order next.

  • Looked more like a ladder to me.

  • thats a pumper damn you got some big ones!

  • what street is the fire house on???

  • stl all day baby

  • firetruck needs a Q

  • You must not be in the business..... There are several reasons, including but not limited to: carrying the equipment, loading the helpless patient, needing a driver for a critical patient where 1 medic needs help in the back, incase the patient goes into full arrest, etc.

  • yea but why wouldnt they just use the medic truck, i mean how many people does it take to help one person?

  • Well, it's a quint, it's a combination of a pumper(engine) and a ladder. It's crappy because, it's half and half, you get the idea. So stuff like medical aids, well, this is the closest thing there is to a engine to respond. They won't need the ladder of course, but what can you do when all your engines are quints.

  • ok why in hell would they need a pumper with a ladder for a person with a heart attack?

  • St. Louis has 30 pumpers, well, QUINTS, 5 H&L's, 2 squads, and 13 medic units. The new chief is talking about changing it to 5 districts with a total of 5 QUINTS, 5 H&L's, and the rest will be regular pumpers....no ladders. Plus, he wants to add at least 6 much needed medic units. But we will probably only see maybe one more medic unit. But we really need to point the finger at the politicians. Not the Department or the Chief.
