Your story is very interesting. It makes me want to learn the Tagalog language even more now.
Hoping things are better for ya now in 2009.

you should not feel like you're a stranger in the philippines bec you are lucky compared to others., like my cousins from UK, they had to really exert a lot of effort for fitting in bec of their color., well, that was BEFORE though.,
i know this video is waaaaayyy too old for the comment but i just want to speak my mind.,
take care

i think you should just practice,. talk to filis more.,
it'll reallly help.,like me, i learned spanish by just talking to my spanish and mexican friends., now i can say that my spanish has improved or yo pienso que mi espaniol ha mejorado mucho., :D.,
thing is if you really really want to learn, do something., research, internet.,
wasn't American. :)

Ah, the "academic Cicat" here...hmmm. I feel ya, girl lol ;-) I grew up in the DC area (the U.S.) and I feel more American than Filipino. (left when I was only 10) I can barely speak a full sentence in Tagalog without stuttering. You sound like you were raised in in the U.S, too....I can't place the accent, though...ummm...Chicago?
