Brad Unruh, a former member of the Alabama Republican Party steering committee and former chairman of the Young Professional Republican Federation of Alabama sent a letter on January 19th, 2010 to the Republican Party's state chairman Mike Hubbard. In his letter to Hubbard, Unruh asked for a full audit of the party's financial records from the year 2000 to the present.

Unruh expressed his concerns "by the lack of transparency and the party leadership's inability to fully explained and account for various expenditures.

Unruh questioned the party's handling of contributions from the Mississippi Choctaw Indians and others opposed to the gaming industry of Alabama to the campaign of Bob Riley. He also questioned payments made to Minda Riley Campbell as a "consultant.". Minda Riley Campbell is Governor Bob Riley's daughter.
