@Ckurbe1 I think what you mean to say is that Filipino Martial Arts became more deadly and effective as an adaptive response to the Spanish having superior weapons (i.e. guns). I don't think it would be accurate to say Filipinos only developed martial arts after the Spanish invasion either. The existence of similar martial arts in Malaysia and Indonesia indicate that FMA systems were already present, since contact with Malaysia/Indonesia were limited due to colonization of all said islands.

Everybody is supposed to read Rizal's works, but in reality, all just read extracts from it. Everyone is supposed to study his life to learn about his motivation and situation, but instead they focus on his love life. We're a stupid people. They reason we don't advance is because we're too stupid to look at our history
