RE: Not being able to turn a pot like that.
Don't forget the foam pad trick we talked about. :-)

This is terrific. It opens some ideas for pieces I need to throw for the raku firing that will be part of the class project I mentioned before. BTW, I managed the olive oil pitcher but didn't get the height I wanted but I did get the pitcher. Next order of business is the stopper and handle after I trim it up. Since mine is shorter, I will be working on gaining more height on future duplicates. Thx & know I am forever - still practicing...

You could pierce some holes in those lugs and put a bamboo handle on it! I like your pot, will be nice to see when done.

I second that Simon!
I have to say though, I've heard more and more about S cracking in the past 5 yrs. I believe it has more to do with uneven drying not so much the compression in throwing, but I do teach that step now. Porcelain seems to be less forgiving. I don't believe people in public studios have the luxury of slowly drying, flipping and rotating thier pots as I do, I also do this for my students pots. I love my old refrig, damp box, dry cleaning bags and shower caps! HAHA

Hello Simon
I was curious as to how you choose whether to thow something on your treadle wheel or an electric. Is it because of the different clay body that you're using the electric for the last couple videos?
I have been considering building a treadle, but so far have not been able to wrap my head around how or why it would be much different than my electric, but the idea of removing electricity from the creative process does appeal to me.
Hello Simon,
How do you get away without condensing the base? Ie: running your finger back and forth a number of times across the inside bottom of the pot after opening up the centred clay. I would not dare miss this step, for fear of an "S" crack.
Cheers and thanks for the clips,
Andrew.
