Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members It is difficult not to be overcharged when looking for something to buy or rent. Especially if going through conventional means. There are some great businesses set up to help people "digging in" to find what they need. But just like any service, they need to get paid. If you can dig up things yourself you can sometimes save a bundle. Especially now, with the economy the way it is, many people are getting rid of assets and liabilities.

There are deals coming up and with some cash you can capitalize on these bargains. One way to do this is to find local bulletin boards. Seller to buyer or owner to renter deals can be found on these and are very popular places to post things fro sale or rent. Here is one such place and some examples.

  • Great info JC...you're correct, when you look online at the real estate websites or the real estate offices you see highly inflated prices because that's usually the first place a foreigner goes when looking for property. I always say to "go local" when shopping for property or rentals...

  • Just a note, having asked about buying a condo it may be a good idea IF u plan on LIVING in it for many years! Otherwise renting would be a better option. As an investment, condos in Thailand are generally not the best choice. One gud point anout buying condos or maybe a house is that THERE ARE NO REALESTATE TAXES!!! U can buy some bad ass place and not have to pay any property taxes! Amazing! In addition, condo fees are super low!

  • As a foreigner condo's are relatively easy as the strata becomes your partner, fee simple is more difficult.

  • As a non-citizen of Thailand there is a bit of complexity involved in buying any real estate. Oh well, how trustworthy are the women?
