@KuostA Actually we had a problem with 5th gear and the drum that controls shifting went out of adjustment. We could have either shifted and risked the transaxle not lasting the entire 25 hours, or just leave it in 4th gear. We have a spare transaxle, but calculated that changing it would've cost more time than driving in 4th only.
This is endurance racing. The #20 took an opportunity when he could. Nothing wrong with that. We chose to be conservative and look at the bigger picture.

@Itsamateroffaith Yep. We hit about 140 down the straights, so flutter, and wind noise in the videos, are an issue.

@KuostA so i can see how over such a longperiod of time it resulted in fuel savings. so you purposely LET the faster traffic go by, and the BMW played dirty by following him through? didnt u see the BMW flying up behind using the faster traffic? why not get back on line and block since that is kind of dirty as well? if anything, why risk that happening when there was such a large gap on that corner where they got through?

@myraceshop oh wow, wait, so you guys CHOSE to only run the car in 4th gear? i feel like there would be MUCH more efficient/easier/efective ways of saving gas if you wanted to. does the car not BOG out of corners if you left it in 4th the entire time with no downshifting? wouldnt that exert more stress on the motor and ultimately use more fuel? would the time lost by staying in 4th instead of higher revs really be worth the fuel savings of staying in 4th? i understand its a LONG race though..
awesome footage, love the footage and love the commentary! can you explain how extending the driving hours for each driver to their max allowable stint allowed you to drop one fuel stop? if anything, wouldn't doing that require more? also, if by using only 4th gear, u still could use 1-4 correct? just not 5+. and why did you let the traffic pass so easily and let the #20 get by you so easily on that one corner? looked like you had ample time to dive down yourself instead of wait to let both goby

@KuostA The drivers stints were originally based upon equal time in the car, not amount of fuel load. Also, running the car in 4th gear only, yes the ENTIRE track in one gear, like a go-kart, also extended the fuel mileage. We used 1-4 when entering and leaving the pits, but once up to speed, we left it in 4th gear the entire time. The BMW did a classic move of following faster traffic past, and our car was "picked". We were held up by the slower traffic and had no where to go.
