Multiple rocket launchers used in battle over 500 years ago. History and explanation with a modern demonstration of the ancient
Chinese bees-nest rocket launcher, by model maker Richard Windley.

A multiple rocket launcher, dating from 1400 AD, is shown at the War Memorial Museum in Seoul, Korea. Interview with Dr. Yeon-Seok Chae.

Rockets used by Chinese against the Mongols in 1232 during the battle of Kai-Keng.

Tseng Kung-Liang, an official of the Chinese goverment, penned a comprehensive account of gunpowder's application to weapons in 1045 (Song Dynasty, 960-1279)

It was called "Wu-ching Tsung-yao" (Complete Compendium of Military Classics), and it detailed the use of ballistic fire arrows.

The first writings on this in the west is found in the military writings of al-Hasan al-Rammah (1285), when Arabs began using gunpowder
propelled fire arrows in combat.
