Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

This is a very simple entry level demonstration with voice over.
Just showing some workflow and explaining what i am doing.
This is a complete video, part 2 will merely show a different coloring of the same character.
Sorry for the cheesy naming.

  • Nice to see I'm not the only one spamming my works with the rectangle lasso (I use it by holding the Alt button). Do you have a Cintiq?

  • @invalidude

    i work with a Intuos4 L

  • Do you have any advices how to deal with multiple layers and don't get lost?

I always have a problems with working on "proper" layer - even if i'm using helps as a names for layers, and colors finding the correct ones for correct picture part, and changing them still taking me to long. Not to mention about drawing on wrong one by mistake.

  • @mandigal

You have to find a workflow that works for you.

When i work on assets that require a large number of layers i create groups.

Also a very useful thing to know:

If you use the 'move tool' and click on some element of your picture while holding "Ctrl" then you will automatically select the layer the element is on. (it does not work well id there are transparent layer effects or if the layer is within a group)

There are lots of other useful PS shortcuts as well.

  • wich brushes do you use?

  • So basically your suggestion to keep color layers nice, and clean would be using polygonal lasso tool rather than simple brush?

I am trying now to use as much layers as possible, and learn quick color fixes, but i can't get rid out of small pixel dirties after each color change :) Clearing them with eraser tool taking a wile...

Was using simple coloring with brush for making my layers though.

  • @kwokers96

    You are welcome

  • @RANDISALBION Thank you so much! I honestly would've never thought of that, god knows why.. This helped me so much!

  • @TheSciFiCat

any screen-capture apps will do, Camtasia is good.

  • Is there a particular video capture program you would recommend for doing this kind of videos.
