I was in Winterthur in Switzerland in January this year (2007) and saw these guys playing. They're from somewhere in the Czech Republic.

  • The lack of sombreros is a clue :¬) But yeah, there ARE similarities.

  • are those Gypsies? they look like Mariachi Mexicans

  • @Pishtucha I met a lot of Roma in eastern Europe, and they don't always want to say where they're really from - it's their culture. Same with the ones I know here (in London) who are realistic about how some of them give the others a bad name - but that is true of all communities here in London, whether they are white British chavs, Irish, black, Jewish, Asian, cyclists, even (always moaning about the ones who ride on the pavement and ignore the red stop lights) etc etc etc.

  • @Pishtucha Thanks for your reply. I'm not angry. But it's just I see a lot of things written on youtube that is nothing to do with the music. (Look at any post of a Macedonian song, for example, and the sort of politikal hating that comes up between Bulgarians, Macedonians, ex-Yugoslavians, getting away from the song and talking about old history and blah blah.) We were in Winterthur in Switzerland, not Vienna. They were from Ostrava or Olomouc, I think, can't remember now as it was so long ago.

  • @nikonezna okey, okey... don't be angry :-D I do apologize. I didn't want to be rude or something like that...

Well, let's stay in the music area - did you speak to those guys? Where exactly in Czech rep. are they from? I guess, since you've met them in Vienna, they could have been probably from Ostrava, or Brno or somewhere close to these cities :)

  • @Pishtucha OK, that's your opinion, and that's your experience. Fine. But this is just a music video, and not a forum for discussion of all general socio-economik issues, so I think your comment is not very relavant here, in this particular bit of youtube.

  • @nikonezna I have just written, that their music and culture is very good and very interesting. But that's the only thing. In other cases they are very problematic and a big catastrophe. Not all of them, there are some exceptions (like these guys, probably), but in general - gypsies mean troubles :-/

  • @Pishtucha Thanks for your comment. Glad you like the music and the culture. Not sure about the rest of your comment. These guys, whatever else they do, are travelling, out working in the cold weather, playing good music, not doing nothing dishonest... and no katastrophe.
