The Russians genuinely do seem to have a strong affinity for the Scots. I visited St Petersburg with the School Pipe Band and we had a fantastic time. The Russian people loved the pipes and we even got to parade at half time for the local team Zenit St Petersburg (current UEFA Cup Holders). Lovely people and a country of amazing paradoxes.
