Advanced Materials Research on the H.L. Hunley submarine at the Warren Lasch Conservation Center
An international team of scientists is conserving the 1864 H.L. Hunley submarine and its artifacts through the Clemson University Restoration Institute in North Charleston, SC.
The Clemson Conservation Center team has developed a prototype engineering design that could change the world of conservation as we know it, according to center director Michael J. Drews.
Using advanced engineering techniques to remove and prevent corrosion on metal surfaces exposed to saltwater, the centers research may one day protect sea-going ships, offshore oil rigs, and steel bridges exposed to saltwater.
Their research was featured on S.C. ETVs The Big Picture in August 2008, to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the Hunley submarines recovery 136 years after it sank in the Atlantic Ocean.

It would be nice to have some detailed information about the Hunley itself, and less continual talk about their institute and jobs, and more talk about their institute and their jobs, and new science, etc. on and on and on...
Details, please
