  • I have been getting quite an education between the paragliding book and these video's. Couldn't I just learn by myself? Would appreciate any and all input please. After all, I don't want to break my neck. I have a friend that is real good at paragliding.

  • There seem to be a lot of people wanting to learn to paraglide this way. I'm not one of them. There is no substitute for knowledge and in paragliding...it's what you don't know that'll kill you.

Your good friends will essentially become your instructors if you go that route. You can learn to paraglide by yourself and make all your own mistakes along the way...if you live long enough to make them all. I prefer to learn from the mistakes of others. I'd like to be doing this when I'm 90!

  • Yo Stienman,Great work Bill@ Planet Landscaping (Stayed @ Charlies with ya)

  • Hey Bill. I just cut it together. Morgan Hollingsworth did the best (and most) camera work with additional footage from myself and Andy Mcray.

  • I can fly!... er... whack! Great clips. I learned to fly off El Pinon and some of those clips are like a bad dream. Thanks and keep it up. Fly it.

  • It's good for people to keep in mind that these clips are in strong thermal conditions and occur over the course of just over a month. Thousands of pilots launched from this location without incident durning the same time.

  • pobres pendejos se sienten la muchas verga y estan rependejos

  • great video. thx for sharing!

  • And that pilot trying to launch his Nova Tycoon by jumping off like that should trade his wing for DHV 1.

  • This is very interesting, many of these wings are comp wings which can be tricky to launch, but if you are flying comp wing your launching skills should be much better.

  • No matter the view, anytime I am more than a few feet off the ground, I would much rather KNOW that I have a wing than to have a temperamental rag that I hope is being my wing.

  • owwie !

ur wing is always a wing, right ?

    but i can c the sky !

  • That looks like one hell of a way to try to have fun. Maybe these people just need to get a life and learn how to hang glide.

  • No-one's got any chance of living long, learning without a good instructor. I couldn't believe how much there is you need to know. I learned with one of the very best (Godfrey Weness here in Australia) and I thank the heavens that I did. I've been in situations that I would have killed me if I hadn't had the knowledge that I gained from the course. Teach yourself, and you'll fly a bit when it's perfect conditions, then one day something tricky crops up and.....bye bye

  • HPAC has a list of instructors for canada and in the states you can inquire from USHPA As long as you're in reasonable shape you're never too old to fly. If they don't have it set up in your area consider taking a two week vacation and becoming a pilot in that time. There are lots of great schools around so phone them up, ask questions and pick the one that feels right for you. Good luck.

  • "VERY" educational. Show's that this can happen to just about anyone. Someday I hope to join the group of paragliders, and I'd better hurry, I'm 67yrs. old. I just can't find anyone to help me connect with a school.
