We are two artists living in a cabin out west. We search the land for treasures from all eras then sell our discoveries on ebay. This is the story of finding an old chain which we believe was likely used to hold up a hammock that belonged to Bernadette Caruth, the depressed daughter of Daniel and Claudine Caruth, and part of an anti-government clan that unsuccessfullt tried to homestead in Montana in the late 1880's. Like the Earthquake lake bolt from earlier this week, we decided to put a midas touch on this item as well, and have gold-coated it which makes it look quite fresh. Could now be used as a stylish bike chain, as a flamboyant rap-style gold necklace, or simply an artwork containing a sad tale about a depressed pioneer girl. Bid here with confidence to own another piece of Americana discovered by Goatsilk and the daily treasures project:

I appreciated your interest and passion for the history but When you visit sites like this, taking something away is like taking away part of it's character. That chain should have remained as it has for so many decades. If everyone who visits, should take a momento, there will be nothing left eventually. Ben and Caroline, great work on the video but please dont rape and plunder these sites for the sake of a dollar on ebay. It is wrong. Take care
