This is Part 1 of my Toolbox Boombox v2 series. In this video, you'll see the components used in my toolbox boombox. I decided to make the box more like an actual boombox by mounting the speakers to the box. Version 1 of this build had small satellite home stereo speakers and was much heavier. The MB Quart FKA116 and Alpine CDA-9813 put out some sweet tunes from a plastic toolbox!

Keep watching as I'm constantly updating this box and working on designs for more custom boomboxes.

  • whats a good amp to use because i want to make a portable boombox with so really good bass to it and i don't know what amp to use do you think you could help me pls thanks

  • @xNickerishx Very difficult to answer...depends on how portable you want the system. Smaller amps are lighter, take less battery, but are not as powerful as the larger ones. If I could build a portable version of the Kicker iK501, I'd be very happy. That is the best sounding small boombox I've heard to date.

  • how much does the battery last ??? if it is without the amplifier

  • @rocker31611 I haven't attempted a test without the amplifier engaged on the Alpine. I attached my battery drain test to this video as a video response. Worst case scenario, I can get 4 hours of playback using the Head Unit's power and external speakers connected.

  • pimping big respect for making the vid of such a GHETTO blaster

  • @mrharwood1 I appreciate the comment! I have more boombox ideas and will hopefully have a chance to build another soon...

  • @bigdwiz i want 2 or 4 speaker a car radio and one subwoofer MTX Audio TR5510-04 witch i already have

  • @MrSeanXI I'll have to see if I can source the toolbox. If you are serious, send me a direct message so we can talk about the details...

  • @Huntabarnez I wired it inline w/ the remote wire, normally connected to ignition or turn-on. This way the head unit gets the 12v constant from the battery to keep radio station presets and the switch works just like it does in your car when you turn the key on or to the ACC setting.

  • How do you wire the on & off switch?

  • @texo1023 I think it is called 21" from the manufacturer. My local Harbor Freight store has one that looks VERY similar to this one for around $20
