I don't know when the switch was to happen in Canada but I'm still receivng signals with 'Rabbit Ears' on 24 January 2012. Perhaps this was more about companies selling converter boxes. I didn't buy a converter box. It's always all about the money.

You guys are still using 4:3 SD? Oh, if you'd decided to go 16:9, most of your shows wouldn't have those black bars on the sides.

Digital TV if fine in itself but when it is broadcasted though and received an antenna you get drop outs (like a skipping cd). That will be VERY annoying for most viewers. With analog transmition the picture just gets a little fuzzy but is still very watchable. Most poor people will probabaly not have tv because the signal will be too weak in some areas and there will be lots of signal dropouts even with a good anttena with amplifier boosters. I have already witnessed this. No more TV for me.

The real reason for the DTV Switch is that want to sell off part of the old UHF Spectrum and allocate some for emergency services. Allowing WiMax providers that spectrum will rake in billions.

How simple minded can you people be? Have you seen the commercial about switching to digital TV? it says " ALL TV SIGNALS WILL SWITCH TO DIGITAL , BECAUSE " ITS BETTER" AND " ITS THE LAW.. why the hell would our government make a LAW to switch to another medium like digital, simply because its a better picture ?? Give me a damned break!There is something bigger to this whole switch to digital thing, much much bigger and you fools better wake up before its too late.!!!
