Stand up guy .. he most certainly deserved a cup. As a Habs fan, I remember being so excited when he came to Montreal ... but ultimately, he belongs in Vancouver, and it's great he was able to retire with thier organisation.

This seems to be the Mike Gillis way - out with the old, in with the new. It's like being president. If he does a bunch of things people don't like but things work out in the end, people remember you fondly. If they don't, people end up picking you apart. If the team wins the cup in the next couple of years, this will be forgotten. If they continue to choke in the playoffs, everything from Linden to Tommy's forced retirement is back on the table.
