Rain Dream Tower by Hitoshizuku

EDIT: Extra stuff about Len's Love Dark Tower below romaji

The title really doesn't translate into a single word, so it's kind of ... I dunno.

I predicted the outcome before the title even showed up, but it's still really sad. It's the classic tale of the two friends who promise to stay together forever, but love gets in the way and the one left behind grows old and lonely. Still, the art is beautiful and so is the song. There's so much feeling in the voices too.

After reading this carefully and taking into consideration who said what, I think both girls regret what happened with Len. Rin fell in love with him, but he took Miku. She left, and eventually fell out of love with Len, and now she wants to go back but can't. Or something like that. But it seems like it didn't end well for either of them.

So anyway, as you can tell, this is a Kagamine/Hatsune Duet. I decided to be really nice and color the subs so you know who's singing, since they're kind of similar. I also think that knowing who sings what lines gives a little more to the story.

I'm translating songs to practice my Japanese grammar and get used to seeing kanji, so this translation may not be the most accurate, but I do try my best~ If you wanna tell me something that's wrong with the translation, go ahead, be brutal.

So there's a sequel/answer song to this sung only by Len and called "Love Dark Tower". I found and translated it, but the translation won't fit here ._. I wrote a summary/commentary thing anyway.

Apparently, Len was using both Rin and Miku and chose Miku because she was the prettier one. (You can see that with the conflicting descriptions in stanzas) He felt love for both of the girls, but it was puppy love for Miku and real love for Rin. For some reason (I'm assuming looks, since he says "I want to love ALL of you") (and I'm assuming that's directed towards Miku) Len leaves Rin behind and buys(?) Miku because she's-hot-and that's-all-that-really-matters. He regrets it forever, and hopes to be with Rin again someday, when her contract ends (if there's an end to it).

On the girls' side, this song shows that Miku might not have been as sincere as Rin in their friendship. It appeared she was using Len to get out of that life(Len says that one of them would stare into a distance instead of at him while they...you know. I'm assuming that's Miku he's talking about.) and she succeeded. Rin on the other hand would stare deeply into his eyes with love because she really did love him.

So putting these together; Rin and Miku met as young girls and became friends, and entered prostitution due to poverty. Then along comes Len who uses both of them and falls in love with both, but he loves Rin for real. However, he decides to buy Miku and leaves Rin, regretting it for the rest of his life.

Of course, this is all my speculation, and would be cleared up with a PV. It would be pretty awesome if I'm right. : )

  • @xxakamaruxx Another interpretation: Len left without Miku, saying "I'm going to meet someone please wait" (but they were momentary words). So then Miku said the same thing to Rin (at the beginning) and left in search of Len, and that's why at the end of the song Rin sings "that unfulfilled promise" and she says that Miku is a "momentary flower." And when Miku sings of a false love, she is talking about Len's love for her. Now both Rin and Miku are waiting for someone to come back.

I might be wrong, but I don't think anyone fell in love with anyone. Both girls had a crush on Len, but he preferred Miku and told her he loved her probably because he liked her back and they were young. Miku went off with him, leaving Rin to miss her to pieces because she was her best friend. Rin grew up with Miku and they were probably used as a pair, so when she left so selfishly, Rin was all alone. Miku also might've been killed for running away and wasn't able to return.

My idea is that *at the beggining* rin and miku are children and promise to be always together. Rin could have been in love with miku. When they became prostitutes, rin shows how she displayed fake affection towards men with appearance. When miku falls in love, rin can't show her how she feels towards her. Miku leaves and runs away from prostitution with her lover (len) and Rin stay's there, waiting for her to return so that they can keep their promise

  • Just. Can't. stop. LISTENING. But I love it XD

  • BWAAAAA!!! I want the translated lyric of Len's song TT_TT

  • Len's voice at 3:17 makes me blush :)

  • Well, the composer uploaded this song with the illustration of Suzunosuke and it was weird because the characters in the illustration were Len and Meiko...so that means Meiko is...?

I don't know if Meiko is related to Len in this Koiyamirou song but it seems like the composer will create another PV of the sequel song...Rumours...

  • but in the illustration of koi yami rou, len was wth meiko?? where does meiko fit in the picture????????? there was also kaito in the background wth some painting tools in his hand...... i think they are paiting tools......

  • reminds me of memoirs of a geisha

  • When i heard the begining i thought this song was Canterella.

  • @Kisekikui im not sure becuase i think miku said "why dont u just take me ith you?" idk im confuused Dx but great story and song its so sad but very touching ; w;

  • "and Miku wanted to go with him. Miku thought he loved her, but it was not true. Len was gone, and Miku was gone after him."
