Look up a game called GuitarFreaks by Konami. It's another Bemani game that came out ages ago that is definately a precursor for the Guitar Hero series. Konami believed that the game wouldn't be marketable for America, thus never localized it here. After the success that games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band have had here I can imagine Konami must be kicking themselves now for not doing it when they had the chance. :/
