Tiffany Rubin is New York public school teacher whose 7-year-old son Kobe Lee was abducted by her ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Salko in September, 2007. The two were sharing custody of the boy, and when facing up to six months in jail for failure to pay child support, Salko abducted the child and returned to his native South Korea.

Through Rubin's MySpace page, she received an anonymous tip from a person claiming to know exactly where her son was, and where he was going to school. With the help of the American Association for Lost Children as well as ex-CIA agent, Bazzel Baz, Rubin flew to South Korea, went into Kobe's classroom and asked the teacher if she could speak to Kobe. Rubin took him into the hallway, and disguised the child in a wig, so that they could leave the building. The immediately sought shelter at the U.S. Embassy until they could return to the U.S.

A feature television movie, produced by the Lifetime Movie Network, was released on January 31, 2011. The film entitled "Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story" chronicles the events of Rubin's story. The television production stars Terry O'Quinn, an Emmy-award winner, and Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson as Tifanny Rubin. O'Quinn, who played John Locke in the "Lost" television series, plays Mark Miller, the director of the American Association for Lost Children Inc., the organization that assisted Rubin in her efforts to recover her son Kobe from Seoul, South Korea.

  • Bazzel Baz is awesome. The name of his organization now is, Association For The Recovery Of Children. The website is that full name dot org. No spaces. They save kids at no charge to parents and for no pay. They need donations.

  • @cherokeesista they had joint custody and he left for Korea during the "week" she allow him to be with his son for vacation..so technically when he flew to Korea..is not kidnapping...hope that helps

  • It's January 2012 and I'm watching the movie on Lifetime, now. I thought it had been a year since the first showing, but I wasn't sure of what month.

I thank God for people who run such organizations, taking time to try and put these tortured families back together.

Thank God for allowing Tiffany be reunited with her son.

  • love the movie glad she got her son back.

  • The boys name is pronounced Ko-bee, not ko-bay lol. Other than that, love this.

  • How was this man able to get this child out of the United States ?? After 9/11 both parents must apply for a passport for a child .

  • Love Sean Baek's work!!
