The Associate (© 2009) by John Grisham book review...followed by a few hellos. I did splice in a few more hellos near the end & you'll see the picture quality change a little (and I'm a little more tired).

Rough synopsis: Kyle McAvoy is about to graduate Yale Law School with a bright future. However, some men approach Kyle and reveal a compromising video, from a Frat party gone wild, they'll use to ruin him -- unless he does exactly what they say. They push Kyle to accept something any ambitious young lawyer would kill for: a job in Manhattan as an associate at the world's largest law firm.

If Kyle accepts, he'll be on the fast track to partnership and a fortune. But there's a catch. Kyle won't be working for the firm but against the firm in a dispute between two powerful defense contractor cases worth billions. Kyle is blackmailed to extract client information and work as a dual agent that could cost him his life.

(Great, cleverly crafted novel by Grisham...though a bit of an open ending doesn't satisfy on some levels)

  • glad the associate was pretty good afterall - even with the open ending .. =) .. the shinning 'is a book for you in many ways' ? what does that mean? are you talking in terms of structure or content/subject? oh jim, you are such a sweetheart! thanks for the shoutout! new vids? well, anything for you handsome! .. ;D .. i thought irene's downtown video was so funny! she's such an entertainer! .. =D .. more guitar vids? yay! i'm so looking forward to them jim!! .. =D .. hugs, katie

  • @oopspaw ..."The Shining" appeal for me - content: an ordinary, struggling family, generally in their domain (ie not on a deserted island) yet in growing extraordinary circumstances, in present times, grabs me. After slogging through 200 sloooww pages of the 440 pg novel...(but I have to say S King seems to adore the details of his 3characters & interrelations, which is endearing), a scary part happened that gave me goosebumps rolling from my neck, forearms to calves!..fun. Irene rocked it! lol

  • I would recommend King's The Talisman and Salem's Lot. Salem's Lot makes this vampire craze that's going on look like a disney movie. SCAR-R-R-RY stuff!

    OK, what song came on?

  • @RickOnEarth `twas J Taylor's ♪Shower the People♪ got me thinkin, "who does that?"...for some reason, driving, I filtered thru youtube people & I thought: RickonEarth does that! ..Do you know that song? Glad you slogged through my droning to my shout out to you :) Talisman sounds especially scary!! ..Rick,my only hesitation is that..."The Shining" is incredibly so slow & I'll address it n my upcoming review. But 200 pgs in, I finally hit a scary scene which gave me chilling goosebumps...fun :)

  • Hi ya Jim Not sure this is my kind of book. I am glad you liked it . You are getting good at this book review stuff =)

OK now the Shining!!! you know I saw the movie but never read the book.

Love Katie's fruit videos too ..I tried the Ugli fruit & it is good & very juicy Yumm

Ha ha ha ha "Down Town" Tooo funny. Let me tell you after singing it for the video so many time I had it in my head for a couple days. Oh shit now it is back LOL LOL @ 7:46 =O

BIG HUGS & love ya tons

  • @tweetnes ...Irene, you are a born entertainer – that “Downtown” was a buncha fun. Especially when you got into it at the end. Yeah, “The Associate” might not be for everyone, “The Shining” is pretty fun for me…but it’s starting to get more creepy than I remembered as I read on through it. Thanks for the sweet comments, young lady!! Hugs, Jim

  • @CombatOasis ... i read the write-up on the book at the link you sent me and as soon as i knew it was, in part, about a possessed house, i knew it was off limits for me no matter how compeling the 'family' is! i'm definitely drawn to supernatural elements in stories but not when they tend towards horror. totally freaks me out! LOL .. ;D .. i'd have more than goosebumps up and down my spine too .. =S .. i'd have nightares for weeks on end .. =0 .. ~eeks~ .. i'm glad you are enjoying it tho! .. ;D

  • @depfox Read the Talisman from King. Its so under rated and one of my favorites ever.

  • @CombatOasis I d send you my 61 hours but I did a number on this paperback as I do most mine lol. My boss gives them to me he is a speed reader and don't crack the cover etc. Like brand new when I get them. But reading in bed I crack em love live em turn the corner down when tired. Now I wouldn't do that to hard cover or reference type books but do for this type reading. Although I could send you some that don't appeal to me. Not into intrigue espionage spy things much (sometimes).

  • @ddAdmire .... dude, you could write a book!
