I think the Brits stole the blues and made it their own, just like they did with democracy. Very innovative. (You know, Rolling Stones, 1965; Magna Carta, 1215.) I live in Chicago and you can't go to hear the blues live too much before it starts sounding kinda flat and the same old after awhile, course that's what they spoon-feed up for the tourists, but still.

You cant that kind of sustain on a fender. They have sustain of a banjo.

thank you so much for this. I loved this record. mick taylor
just kills me when he holds out and then plays that riff at the end of the lesson.
the band just takes off into the statosphere. the stones were so lucky they were allowed
to aquire him. one of the best records ever.

Is this the part of Diary Of aBand where Mick Taylor lets Jimi play his guitar? I've been looking for that album. I have the DOAB that doesnt have Jimi on it. It's a 2 Vol. series..if I remember right..

hahah what? ..where you learn 2 play g-tar?.. is sad.. ya wanna talk about sustain..forget about your fuggin overdrive..and LEARN how to make notes with a guitar.....in recent years, are you tellng me Kurt Cobain coudn't get 'sustain' outa a Fender? ummm yes he could..
-
Depends whether we're on overdrive or not doesn't it ? Les Paul on normal has more sustain than a Strat. Strat on normal has more than a banjo, and a banjo on overdrive will sustain a great deal
-
cant get that kind of sustain on a Fender... ummmm Snotra....ever hear of a guy named Jimi Hendrix? ...yah ... he got lots of sustain outa Fenders....

I originally owed an 8-track of this and somewhere I've got the vinyl. I remember the bit after the Keef Hartley interview being called Anzio Annie or Anzio Anne after the WWII artillery piece, but I see the listing of the remastered album calls it something else. It burns! It burns! Ahahahaha. The burningest blues lead ever recorded by my estimation.
many thanx for this video. reminds me, that I have "diary of a band" vol 1 + 2 on my dusty shelf... ;+) hey, and what a thrilling leadguitar played by 16 year old Mick Taylor. gives me a chickenskin

Played the cr*p out of this album when I was a teenager back in the late 60s. Mayall used to live near us in Cheadle Hulme before he went to London.

A very respectful piece of work Trichoone; I thank you. I had this record as a teenager, it was an "import" here in the states, there is actually a Diary of a Band Vol 2 as well. Keef Hartley's phrase "good for them bad for us but there you go" became a catch phrase for me and my friends, I still use it today!
