Pissed off at YouTube

Youtube has decided to find "original" content for their site. WTF are we? Sheep? Pawns?

Youtube is broken and their "fixes" are to add new features...some are cool, video editor, etc... BUT

The community of yt was single handedly DESTROYED. Sharing is nearly IMPOSSIBLE. Bulletins are equally ludicrous because they are not how they once were in the beginning stages of youtube. That was when they had workable features. Sharing was easy and people could find you and liked getting your vids and watched them.

SEARCHING for new content on yt is virtually NIL. You can't do it. New musicians, filmmakers, etc, have been thrown to the lions and have no views for days or weeks while NAME ACTORS, NAME YOUTUBERS and PAID Advertisers are taking over. You want a new acoustic musician? Too bad. You can't find him. Acoustic is not even a topic anymore. "Just Uploaded" disappeared with all the other ways that the average Joe could be found. YouTube has become THEYTube. You watch what THEY tell you to watch.

And forget about being featured. Good video? Too bad. They won't feature it. You have to already be youtube famous or have to pay for it or be a star name from outside youtube in order to get anywhere.

I remember when youtube was such a great venue. I told everyone about it. I said this is better than putting your movies into festivals! This is amazing. This is awesome. Everyone in the world can find you. It's not as easy as that anymore. Some of the best and most simple features which they had in the beginning of its days are gone.

It's sad too. Because the creators may have created youtube but the USERS MADE it! Now, the users are being kicked to the curb for money. YOU has been discontinued from YOUtube.

I remember when I used to get 1000s a views a day and tons of comments. I met people. I traveled to see people. I even married someone I met on youtube.

If I was supposed to meet him today, it wouldn't have happened. There is no way today's youtube could've helped us fall in love and get married like it did yesteryear... I'm disappointed. I'm discouraged. I'm feeling betrayed.

I stayed up nights editing content that I made for youtube...6 long months I made content where one night a week I stayed up all night to get it up there on youtube and create comedy everyone loved.

The community is broken. I don't even think my subs know I have made a video for 3 years. I'm heart broken. Youtube needs to come alive again and in order to do this, youtube needs to help its everyday Joes, no-named Joes, find its audience again. Let the youtube stars stand aside and bring the next door neighbor and the garage band and the acoustic guy sitting on his bed back into the picture on the front page. And me, the comedian, the philanthropist and music video director, to have a shot at gaining back our audience.

You're exactly right - what makes me laugh is that the IT community of supernerds usually give the finger to the man - and as soon as massive takeovers start all the independence goes out the window - cash speaks volumes - as soon as the man takes over - people go elsewhere.

I agree a 100%. Thank you for reminding me about all the cool stuff Youtube used to have, I had already forgotten! it's too bad... I used to get more views and comments too... blah... this sucks... =/
