A video of me playing the theme from super mario bros on my trombone. A few cracked notes, but i was too lazy to rerecord it. poor quality but the sound is decent enough
this was recorded on an old logitec web cam, that's why it looks like crap.

Recorded during my junior year of high school.

And no, I won't give you the sheet music to this song. I learned this from transposing it from a piano sheet very similar to the one found at the site listed below. And no, I won't transpose it for you.

[EDIT Jan 28, 2009]
So, I finally decided to give you the sheet music in bass clef, times change as well as people.
I realize now how much of a douche bag I was being now.

Anyway, enjoy the sheetmusic.

[EDIT Oct. 3, 2009]
I've gotten a lot of comments saying that I'm blasting too much. I can assure you that I did not blast during the creation of this video. It's the low quality built in mic on the webcam that is to blame.

  • is this the key of Eb

  • B-flat

  • I like this vid.

But as for the transposing issue. I have 9 years experience on the trombone and any real trombone player would be able to read both bass and treble clef and would realize that you wouldn't need to do any transposing because trombones can play both clefs (just like the baritone) So no transposing would be needed at all.

  • Ahh, but the ability to play in any clef is not limited to the instrument. Any instrument can play in any clef. It's all up to the performer to be able to read the clef.

But as for my version in the video, I did transpose. The piano part that I link to is written in C, and I am playing it in B-flat.

So the transposition is necessary to play it as I am in the video.

  • lol mate that isn't transposing!! Haha if you thought treble clef to bass clef was transposing! wtf

  • C to B-flat isn't transposing? Excellent insight.

I'd love to know what exactly you think transposing is. I didn't simply lower it an octave and swap clefs.

  • a tip: do not lean back when you play.

  • His username is "gotbone10" which either refers to the trombone or something which I'd actually rather not say.

  • THATS A BASS TROMBONE!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(

  • BLAT BLAT BLAT, BLA-BLAT, BLAT! BLAT! - That was my first impression from your playing. You did hit the correct notes and your tone was decent, but articulation could definitely use improving.

  • If I had a dollar for pixel in this video...

    I would have 50 cents

  • That was so cool

  • lol i play trombone too!

  • 2 computer montors right next to each other? or screens

  • Nice. Always wanted to play this song. =) thanks a lot for the sheet music! =D

  • can i have the sheetmusic

    if you have it

  • Dude. I have been playing for about 21/2 decades pro-lke. Do NOT let these little haters get to you. You acually (I think ) took the time and effort to learn this tune, and it does NOT matter if you transcribed/transposed this. You learned it Yo played it. Not bad, and you only had one obvious mistake during. Nice. I enjoyed.

  • can u do a video response to show me how to play it?
