My 2006 Kia Sorento has had ongoing problems that Suntrup Kia in St. Louis cannot fix. Each time I start the car, the engine makes very loud and annoying squeaking and squealing sounds. These sounds are magnified when I put the vehicle in gear (R, D, etc.). So far, everything from a new water pump to new belts and pulleys have been replaced, but nothing works!

Suntrup Kia has had at least 6 distinct opportunities to fix this problem and they have not succeeded. They are exceptionally nice and try their best, but the problem remains and I am a very unhappy Kia customer. Do I have a lemon? What will Kia Corporate do to fix this huge problem/defect?

  • UPDATE: kia couldn't fix the problem. I spray the belts with Belt Conditioner every 3-4 weeks.

  • Blondie? What do you mean?

  • To complete the post, Kia replaced all the belts, pulleys, the water pump, and even the timing belt, but the car still makes noise. The bottom line is Kia doesnt know how to fix their own vehicles. A Kia Specialist even visited the dealership to lend a hand, but all to no avail. Oh well. What next? Ford, GM, Toyota, Hondahopefully Ill have better luck next time.

  • BTW - I didn't pay any money for the repairs.

  • From the Owner: the car still makes the same noise. Kia can't fix it. I am so sick of taking my car in to get fixed that I have give up, at least for the time being. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a can of belt conditioner and sprayed it on yesterday. What do you know...it worked. The belts do not make any noise, but we all know that belt conditioner is just a temporary fix. At least it is quiet now. - Disgruntled Kia Owner.

  • To Kia's credit, they are doing their best to fix this problem. A special Kia rep is going to try and fix the engine trouble. We'll see how it goes.

  • That sounds more like the belt that drives the A/C compressor its possible it just came out of alignment and is squeeking or its possible the belt or compressor pully is ready to go. Its obviously a belt noise
