Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond is the Charles E. Ducommun professor of education at Stanford University where she launched the School Redesign Network and co-founded the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education.. She is a former president of the American Research Association and member of the National Academy of Education. Earlier in the year, Dr. Hammond led the education transition team for the Obama administration.

Spotlight's Jodie Levin-Epstein, deputy director of the Center for Law and Social Policy, spoke with Dr. Darling-Hammond on issues concerning education as a civil right; school redesign and inequity; college readiness; the and impact of child poverty on education.
