S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky Night core i7 GTX 295 1920x1200 maxed out

Short video presenting some gloomy atmosphere of postnuclear Chernobyl at the end of the game. I like the way they did the lights and thunderstorm with wet surfaces (something simlar can be seen in Mirror's Edge). Pay attention to very nice volumetric fire, smoke and light. Game has very detailed textures with parallax mapping giving all brick and tree textures more depth and 3d feel.

Game was recorded with FRAPS, I increased the walking speed to cover more distance (also some of the scenes udr god mode). All settings are maxed out (with enhanced full dynamic dx10 lightning). AA at maximum 4x level.

Anyways, didn´t play STALKER or this expansion, but one day, when I get myself a new PC this is going to be my second life.

What volumetric fire actually do? And is this Dx10 effects drops the performance a lot?

it looks more realistic. and dx10 mode in general gives you better quality effects - wet surface, volumetric effects, dynamic lights. you will notice a huge performance impacts on weaker cards in areas that are filled with those effects but in a lot of areas the performance is identical to the dx9 enhanced full dynamic lighting mode
