Bossa Nova Beatniks - When We Kiss

The Bossa Nova Beatniks show you one of the many reasons we love our home on Long Island East of Manhattan Island. The very wonderful Sparlha Swa sits in on lead vocal. She has three CD's of her own out and travels in and out of the U.S. singing from her heart.

Jerry Dugger plays the bass. Tim Stapleton plays the bongos and Roy Lechich plays the guitar.

The songwriter and photographer, Tom Gould, can be heard in the background.

Lovely soon, but I don't get the beatnik connection, and this does not sound like bossa nova. Is the name of the group just a joke thing?

The name was given to us as a nickname and we haven't been able to shake it.

The first place we played was Jack Kerouac's old hang out in Northport. We play several bossa's and sambas. We have gone where the name has led us. We love the music of Jobim and encourage everyone to discover the true bossa and the wonderful rhythms of Brazil. Is it a joke? We certainly hope so.
