Peter Mark Richman - Nicholas "Nick" Cain
James Coburn - Arthur Troy
Dorothy Dandridge - Norma Sherman
Ican Dixon - Joe Sherman
Joe Mantell - Maury Troy
Edward Asner - Dave
Dorothy Dandridge stars as a Norma Sherman , she's a blues singer with a drug problem, i think the character boarders on Billie Holiday whom Dorothy was suppose to portray in a film directed by Orson Welles but it never came to fruition, Dorothy is very effective in the film and should have been awarded an Emmy for her brilliant performance, it's funny Dorothy looked at her career as a failure, but if she stopped to think about it, she pretty much accomplished every role and everything she ever wanted to do in film, sadly she was to die 3 years after this film was completed, a sad end to a beautiful brilliant star.
@bevrich My pleasure! Once I get my hands on a dvd version will upload again

@indigirl86 Yes they were great friends...Donald Bogle, hope I can meet him one day. Am so appreciative on him doing work on her and have so many of his books.
Yes, Dorothy was to do the Billie Holiday movie way before Diana.

In the biography by David Bogle, it mentions that Dorothy actually knew Billie and there were times when Billie was eluding an irate lover or the police and according to the book, at times hid Billie. Its very possible that Dorothy was able to draw on the personal relationship she had with Billie in order to portray this role. Great post. I didn't even know that she did this.
