The Piping Plovers were listed as an endangered species in Canada in 1985. In early August, the plovers will migrate back to their wintering grounds along the Gulf of Mexico. The main distinguishing features of the piping plovers than other plovers is its single, black neck and brow band. Most of plovers have double band. And the piping plover has a 'dry sand' coloured back.
