The current record for longest range sniper kill is 2,430 metres (7,972 ft), accomplished by a Canadian sniper, of the third battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (3 PPCLI), during the invasion of Afghanistan, using a .50 BMG (12.7 mm) McMillan bolt-action rifle. That's some shot he broke Carlos Hathcocks record for the longest range sniper kill. I was reading about this shot and it said that the round had a flight time of four seconds, and a drop of 44.5 m (146 ft). Like I was saying before amazing shot and so was Carlos Hahcocks shot achieved during ,achieved during the Vietnam War, at a distance of 2,250 m. Two excellent shots and two excellent snipers.
The new world record is not one that will be recorded officially. But there was a kill southeast of the Afgani border that was on a very high ranking government official by an unnamed member of a Special Forces sniper from a distance of 2740 meters ( 8990 feet)
The current world record for the longest range sniper kill is 2430 meters (7972 feet), accomplished by a Canadian sniper, Corporal Rob Furlong

I just watched a show where a US Navy Seal tried to replicate the shot.

Craig Harrison of the British Household Cavalry beat the shot by Rob Furlong. It's just a record. Someone else will beat it eventually.
If they met the snipers wouldn't be arguing, they'd be discussing kit, rifles, ammo and beer.
