US Airways flight 1549 was a passenger flight from New York-La Guardia Airport, NY (LGA) to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, NC (CLT), operated by an Airbus A320.
While in the flight's initial climb phase about two minutes after taking off at 3:25 pm, the Airbus 320 struck a flock of large birds at about 3,000 feet resulting in an immediate and significant loss of thrust from both engines.
