Wonderful. The perfect Micaela: her voice is clear, like a young girl, but touching and moving. The afination, legato, pronunciation are just PERFECT.

I doubt Bizet's Carmen was meant for The Met... it shouldn't be the only holy standard if your voice "is suited for the Met". And I doubt that she wouldn't have done it. She was one of the big singers and I adore her!

She's one of my favorite renditions of this aria.

Miss contrubas sings this aria very beautifully, especially on the high B's.

However, in big opera houses one needs more heft in the voice. She never portrayed this role at the Met. Singers like Mitchell, Freni and Riccarelli were more the voice types for this role.

Undoubtedly THE BEST ever Micaela of times. The great Ileana Cotrubas who can sing this role with the sweetness one would expect from a young, innocent town girl who is in pursuit of the love of her tender youth. She brings tears to my eyes!

In urma cu peste 50 de ani, la Ateneul Roman, intr-un concert al Corului de copii Radio, am auzit-o pe Ileana Cotrubas cintind Ave Maria de Schubert. Este data - si motivul - de la care am iubit aceasta muzica si pe Ileana Cotrubas. Ma inclin, cu dragoste!

Senza dubbio la signora Cotrubas ha una voce adattissima al ruolo ma difetta in fraseggio ed alcuni suoni non sono perfettamentei ntonati senza contare il legato....
