On Fox News last night, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich lashed out at the media's coverage of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, including Saturday Night Live's mocking of the candidate. "The Saturday Night Live skits, some of which I think were slander and worthy of a lawsuit," said Gingrich.

  • Sarah palins a bitch. Sue me

  • Hey,it's a Newt! Who turned over a rock? Hey Newt... you suck. Sue me asshole! Now, crawl your (R)eptilian ass back under your cold, dark rock. Bye now... And remember kids "FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS VOTE REPTILIAN". ......-.-.-.-.-.-.-. Since 1985 the wealthiest 5% of Americans have had their total net worth go from 8 TRILLION dollars to 40 TRILLION. During the same 25 years the National Debt has gone from 2 TRILLION to 14 TRILLION. Maybe it's time we get some of OUR money back...

  • @ddubya77 I was a poli sci major. you still don't seem to understand and you're moving away from the point. Ethics are not in this discussion, the discussion is about how GM was able to pay back the loan. Working in a corporation does not mean you understand how it works. I'm guessing you're not in finance, ops, or strategy.. Correct?

  • @daybie You're a business major aren't you? I can tell because you think and believe exactly what I believed 10 years ago when I was a student at the Uof Minnesota. I've been in the corporate world for 10 years now, and have learned that what I was taught and what is reality are TWO totally different things. They teach ethics, and ethics don't exist in the real world. Ask yourself this. Do you see a shortage of GM products on the roads? I'll bet you say no. Now, how would GM be in trouble?

  • So you're saying that a company that basically changed nothing about the way they do business was able to use the lent money to turn it all around. If they would've changed some things, hired new "management", and came with some new innovation I could maybe believe that, but they didn't. GM is the same GM and they will be in trouble again soon. That is after the company blows all the "profit".. Do you really believe GM used that money for bettering their company? Chevy is almost finished.

  • @Ddubya77 With the money from the gov't GM was able to stay in business while regaining their assets, which not only saved the company, but also enabled GM to repay the money AND pay the the taxes that give YOU the infrastructure and lifestyle you take for granted.

    Socialism or Advanced Captialism?

You should understand that companies bailout other companies for "mutual benefit" all the time.. The goverment HAS to do the same as well, if we want to be competitive in a global economy..

  • @Ddubya77 You don't understand cash flow. GM situation was the same as the situation of most business that fell. The simplified cycle goes like this sell, collect, replenish.. GM had extended it assest out to "sell" i.e. manufacture and enable its customers to buy. The economic situation of the country limited its ability to "collect" i.e. regain their extended asset (hopefully with a profit).. This caused a negative cash flow situation, which forced GM to beg for money.

  • @daybie You tell me how GM has paid back the money in less than a year when the company was millimeters away from going bankrupt? It's absolutely impossible! The only way is that GM was fudging their numbers and weren't in as bad of shape as they claimed and used our money with .75% return on our end. While they made billions off of our "investment". It doesn't smell right. GM was the most obvious bailout, so they had to make it look good. I don't buy it.
