A film by Phillip O'Riley
Basically about fitting in and stereotypes.
Synopsis -Chris is a guy who lives in Chula Vista, a suburb of San Diego in California. He is having an identity crisis, a dilemma if you will. He is an American who is ethnically half Caucasian and half Mexican. He doesn't feel like he belongs in the Mexican community in his town. For a long time people haven't accepted him as being Mexican. He finally sets his goal on trying to discover his town and try to embrace his Mexican side. He goes around town to see the sights, food, and people of the area. Chris is even confronted by a local who thinks Chris is saying lies. A conflict between the two erupts.
Chris still needs answers. He then goes to a friend's place to ask his opinion on the dilemma. His friend Ramon tells him that he doesn't have to fit into either culture, and so what if he doesn't live up to any stereotypes. Ramon's 100% Mexican and he doesn't fit in either. Chris also discovers that he doesn't fit in with the Caucasian stereotypes either. In the end Chris discovers categories and stereotypes are moronic, and he is both races, and he shouldn't hate either part of himself.
I made this for people like me, and others I know who actually have to deal with stuff like this on an almost daily basis. I just wanted to get a message out there. I don't have an identity problem in real life, I know who I am, but the dilemma made a good catapult for the story in the film.
