Against the awe-inspiring wonder of the Apollo 11 moon landing, it is easy for many to forget this flight that paved the "starway" to the moon.

Wow! What great pictures these are of staging! I almost forgot this was from 1968! Great to see such high quality ascent imagery of the Saturn 1B, a vehicle I would argue is one of the forgotten pioneers of the U.S. Space Program.

To think here in 2010 we still look back at 1968 and are thrilled to watch these -that says something about Apollo... and after this year what are we left with: nothing! Thanks again for posting and sharing all of footage.

Yep it does seem like we havent gone very far since 1972! History won't care a jot what is happening now. In 100 years time things will be different....we will be out there exploring the solar system...and historians might see the present "way forward" as a step backward. Whatever happens I don't believe I will now see a return to the moon (by the US) until much later in my life, perhaps not at all. Which is a disapointment.
