EX BOYS: Cy-Fair Rolls Past St. Stephen's in THSLL DII Semifinal
Junior middie Michael Mann and junior attackman Travis Tabb each registered a co-game high six points to lead Cy-Fair to a 19-13 victory over St. Stephen's in a Texas High School Lacrosse League Division II semifinal Saturday afternoon.
Mann scored four goals and added two assists, and Tabb had five goals and one assist, to lead Cy-Fair to Sunday's THSLL Division II state championship game. Cy-Fair will face the winner of Saturday night's second semifinal between North District champion Highland Park II and South District champion Stratford-Westchester.
On Saturday, junior attackman Trey McKay and junior middie Taylor Brooks each added five points on three goals and two assists, and senior attackman Turner Harris finished with four points on a goal and three assists for wild-card entry Cy-Fair, which improved to 15-4 and won for the 14th time in its last 15 games.
In a losing effort, senior attackman Nicholas Liu scored a game-high seven goals for Central District champion St. Stephen's, which finished the season 11-7.
Cy-Fair took control early and was never seriously threatened late. The Ironmen led 5-1 at the end of the first quarter, 10-3 at halftime and 16-8 going into the fourth quarter.
"We had a slow start, and we played them a lot better in the second half," St. Stephen's Coach Christopher Figueroa said.

I never knew St. Stephens was this good in DII, they're DI now and McCallum (DII district finalist) lost to them by one point in '09 in OT. I though cy-fair was a lot better this year?
