The Bloody Sunday killings were unjustified and unjustifiable, the Prime Minster has said.

Thirteen marchers were shot dead on 30 January 1972 in Derry when British paratroopers opened fire on crowds at a civil rights demonstration.

Fourteen others were wounded, one later died. The Saville Report is heavily critical of the Army and found that soldiers fired the first shot.

Prime Minister David Cameron said he was "deeply sorry".

He said that the findings of the Saville Report were "shocking".

  • A honest pm in britan. He done the right thing. It was the beginning of the close friendship wit uk and ireland. Nx the loan to ireland. Prince william wearing irish guard uniform at his weddiing. And of course the qeen visiting the republic

  • Cant stand David Cameron but everything he said was spot on. Im Proud to b British, ashamed of this incident. There is plenty of blame to go round. It must also b remembered that most of the blame 4 the innocent lives lost during this conflict can b laid at the door of the terrorists of both sides. It must also b remembered that the loyalists started the conflict thru indimidation of the catholic minority. The Army was doing by 80s n 90s a very difficult job very very well by & large

  • Well done David Cameron, Britain will never be forgiven for shooting dead innocent protesters on their own streets, but accepting responsibilty helps.

  • @turkeypue to you.

  • Nothing will ever right the wrong of Bloody Sunday, but this is a step in the right direction.

  • @fac5c1981 you are seriously mentally ill.

  • @gtgale1 "god fearing people" ..... "god bless the Queen" .... "fabulous English Empire"..... ugh you make me sick

  • this apology means nothing

  • Who are the people in the building at 2.57??

  • David Cameron is a first rate Prime Minister. He is honest and tells it like it is. This action hurts him deeply as it does all God fearing people. Our hearts go out to all those families that lost loved ones. David reflects the best that England has. Bless and keep you David. And God Bless the Queen and the fabulous English Empire.
