"African Drum Jam" as performed by Adjoa Skinner

The ball shakers used at the beginning have many names...Bakita Gourds, Asalato, Thelevi, kitsikpo or Kasheka you can also check out some sweet moves on them on: http://www.kosika.com/index.html

The djembe is Charlie Peacock's, I borrowed it for the video. I did't play it all out like a normal djembe because I didn't want to overpower the vocal... this was a live take that was recorded with only an overhead mic... and the room was very live.

The English translation is something like this: "For all that you have done for me I thank you everyday, I thank you all of my life, for there is none like you."

A Word from the Producer:
My name is Charlie Peacock, I am the producer of this short performance film. The non-profit, Art House America sponsored this short as a part of its emerging artist program, of which Adjoa Skinner is a recipient. The film was shot by Ben Pearson and edited by Kip Kubin. A Word from the Artist:
My name is Adjoa Skinner, I was given the name Adjoa when I lived in Ghana, West Africa where I helped pioneer a school of music in 2003. I'm hoping to go back to Ghana at the end of 2009 with a team to continue supporting, teaching and encouraging the staff and students of the school.
This song is a medley of 3 different African folk songs that I learned while living in East, South and West Africa. Again, like I had said at the start, the basic interpretation of the song is "For all that You have done for me, I thank You everyday, I thank You all my life, for there is none like You."
