(Monkees TV Show 1968)

Long afloat on shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
'Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle
And you sang
Sail to me, sail to me
Let me enfold you
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you

Did I dream you dreamed about me ?
Were you hare when I was fox ?
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken lovelorn on your rocks
For you sing
'Touch me not, touch me not
Come back tomorrow
Oh my heart, oh my heart
Shies from the sorrow'

I am puzzled as the oyster
I am troubled as the tide
Should I stand amid your breakers ?
Or should I lie with death my bride ?
Hear me sing
'Swim to me, swim to me
Let me enfold you
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you'

He'd most likely be dead by now. (Bad joke)

On top of being one of the greatest pioneers rock has ever known, Tim Buckley was able to compose some of the simplest and most beautiful love songs ever written, like "Song to the Siren" and "Phantasmagoria in Two"... I can't understand how most people still don't recognise his genius, even after his death..

Last spoken words ever on the show: "This is Tim Buckley". But not bittersweet at all ...

Tim's father was Timothy Charles Buckley Jr, not Lord Buckley.

Lured to his death in the water-

In Greek mythology, the Sirens (Greek singular: Σειρήν Seirēn; Greek plural: Σειρῆνες Seirēnes) were dangerous and beautiful creatures, portrayed as femmes fatales who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Roman poets placed them on some small islands called Sirenum scopuli
