3D Demo Reel 2009 High Definition - Luke Mayberry

This is my completed demo reel for 2009. It has been many months of work. Most of the work contained has been created for various projects in the last 12 months or so, though some of it was made before that and tweaked for this.

I am currently unemployed and am looking for work doing ANYTHING in the 3D, film or special FX industry. I recently graduated from Monash University Berwick School of Multimedia and have a degree in Multimedia Applications. I also have a background in Science, specifically Micro and Molecular Biology. I'm located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. If you think you might be interested in employing me, shoot me off an email and I'll send you my resume.

My main 3D tools of operation are Autodesk Maya, though I also have some experience in 3D Studio Max and Vue. The video was put together in Adobe After Effects.
My main career focus is in the 3D realm, but I have also worked on many websites (PHP, mysql, HTML), 2D Flash projects, and promotional videos for short films and businesses. This demo reel has focused only on my 3D skills, I may upload a different one showing some of my non-3D projects at a later date.

Fun facts: The final compilation for this project came in at 58.7GB, the whole project came in at just under 1TB as everything was rendered at 1080p or higher.

Special thanks to companies such as Digital Tutors, and people such as Andrew Kramer who have provided the inspiration and learning knowledge to help hone my skills.

The music in the video is by SSS Pictures (Tonite Only Remix), but I have cut and remixed it even further to fit with my piece. SSS have two very awesome albums which I highly recommend purchasing.

All of these are amazing work but you don't have a cohesive goal on this reel. What I mean which field do you specialize in? Prospective employers are going to be wondering where they can put you. If your super great at rigging then give a few examples of rigging in action then scrap everything else.

@tokensocialist I'm a generalist, so yes many employees will see that as a negative. Fortunately some people are able to look past that and realise that I have pretty decent skills in a number of different areas.

i like, though would assume animation to not be your strong point? i think definitely work on improving that, but you could easily get a job working on modeling etc

I can model most stuffs like bottles to everything else except a human being and a car. that's what i wanna do too but it's kinda hard. With the human head modeling , i'm able to do it until i get to the back of the head then i get stuck. with the car , i start pretty well when it gets to the end , i get stuck and the model looks scary then i give up. am good at modeling any other thing. and oh i cant model aircrafts and stuffs too but mah goal is a human and cars!!that's mah dream!

very good showreel...but i think the start of your reel shows some mediocre work.....i must say it got REALLY GOOD towards the middle and end....especially the modelling at 1:09 is cool with the bullets going past her....and the batmobile model lookedd greatt..not sure about the animating tho....other than that it looks perfect
