6 Flags is Cruel to Elephants like Tava

This was the elephant "encounter" show at 6 Flags with Tava, a majestic, very patient matriarch who gives a daily performance that must surely be tedious, tiring and extremely boring for her, yet she does it anyway for the puny humans holding their bullhooks next to her. Anyone want to guess why an animal weighing over ten tons, that is held captive in a lousy place, still performs for humans? Is it because, as some people claim, "she likes it"? Somehow I think it has more to do with the bullhooks the men wield than any taste for the stage.

The fact that 6 Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo California still keeps hundreds of fellow animals captive (its own website boasts 1,700+) at its roller coaster-laden them park, along with lots of noisy, hissing, booming rides and screaming visitors is outrageous, pathetic and sad. Some nonhumans are almost hidden among the rides, like the shy, nocturnal fennec foxes and the normally solo alligators who are forced to live their lives next to rumbling rides and throngs of staring tourists.
Perhaps the most heartbreaking are the largest mammals, the elephants and Shouka, the solitary and no doubt lonely orca. Both species are stuck in barren, boring, laughably inadequate and shamefully small habitats.
The only reason Tava is always the one performing is because, according to 6 Flag's own medical reports, the rest of the elephants are too old and arthritic to even perform the simple tasks Tave does.
And the only reason 6 Flags gets away with it is because federal and state laws pertaining to performing animals are pathetically weak, and enforcement of them even weaker.
So it's up to the citizens to do what our governments won't: fight this kind of exploitation by NOT having anything to do with the greedy, uncaring corporations like Six Flags.
Please don't support this kind of cruelty by going there, until they give the animals to sanctuaries.

Dude, I've SEEN the bullhooks being used myself; and you can see them in some of my vids.

They may not use them as clubs (I certainly hope not) but they know exactly where the tender spots are to hook them with.

And just being there at the place is cruel. Elephants DO NOT belong in a crummy little paddock in an amusement park where there are -- how many rollercoasters? Around 10 or so? And how many other noisy rides?

in all reality these elephants have something to do and they are in a group and six flags makes allot more money then most sanctuaries and if they are in poor shape or abused they don't make them money which in turn takes care of the animal. while there at my visit they limited the time there were interactions with the animals and the animal was doing something and not just standing there like at most zoos or sanctuaries I have seen . I guess anyone can find fault with anything

Yes! 6 Flags made IDA's Worst Zoo list yet again in 2009. Even crummy zoos don't have their animals perform silly, degrading and unnatural stunts like this.

And the same goes for the marine mammals at 6 Flags. The inherent cruelty is hidden behind the flashy shows with blaring music and pretty girls. There's nothing "educational" about it; it's cheap entertainment for the clueless.
