First video with my new Martin taropatch ukulele, improvised from start to finish. Halfway through the tune my wife and one year old son enter the living room, hence the smile and applause.

I believe this is the first taropatch video on youtube, and I like the instrument so much that I'm sure it won't be the last one.

BTW the moustache was just to tease my wife. It's gone now! :)

  • I've been playing this on repeat for the past 3 days. I love it so much! Where'd you get the tune? and that ukulele has me hooked, I'm definitely getting a Taropatch Style 2 Uke sometime in my ukulele career, I love the sound. Great Job! The only ones I've found so far are from the 20's & 30's, do they still make this style? because the only ones I've seen are around $2,000 =/

  • Thanks! It's my own "composition" - largely improvised on the spot.

Martin stopped making taropatches in 1931. I have a style 1 taropatch for sale if you're interested (see my video HUGE PEGHEAD HUGE SOUND), at a much better price than what you quote.

  • Great tune and beautiful instrument. I have never heard a slack key uke. Is it the same as this you tube video, Ukulele Ike And Buster Musical Jam?

  • No, Ike and Buster play a style 3 taropatch, this one is a style 2. I do have one or two videos with a style 3 taropatch too, check my channel.

  • awesome. so awesome.

how do you tune your taropatch?

  • FBbDG ("Bb tuning")
