In this video tutorial I recorded a Google search being made for the word "malware". On the sponsored links list, we are able to see that one of the results with the title "Malware Anti-Malware Free" is categorized as unknown by Norton safe web. This website doesn't contain any major malicious content with the exception of an executable file hosted on the server responsible for the maintenance of this website. If this file is downloaded and there is no security solution installed on the host, a fictitious computer program will be installed claiming that the computer's security is critical and urgent attention is required. Naturally this isn't true and only has the purpose of spreading fear to inexperienced computer users without any basic technical training or knowledge. If any viewers of this videos has this computer program installed or any similar application, an antivirus or internet security solution should be installed, updated and a full system scan should be performed in order to detect and remove this threat from the computer. If sensitive information is stored on the computer such as credit card credentials or any personal property it is recommended to contact the respective financial institution(s) and request an alteration of security passwords and other relevant credentials straightaway. If you think you may have been tricked to purchase a "full version" of the rogue security software, change any shared credentials with the scammers immediately, these may include e-mail addresses, passwords and credit or debit card information. If genuine security software is installed, updated and a subscription is kept current, these rogue security applications are much less likely to be installed in a computer system. Note: Although following these steps is crucial, common sense is normally the most important precaution to be taken before any download of an unknown or unwanted computer application takes place.

  • @idodo60 Hi. Yes, I know. I am still using the last few days remaining on my current subscription but I already purchased a renewal key for next year. Thank for your comment and for subscribing to my YouTube channel.
