How many will gloss over this 3 part vid. without realizing its relevance to some people. I worked in the kimberelys as a fisherman after prawns and used to work napier broome bay, it was a bastard full of jelly fish and stuff on the bottom that use to rip up the nets. Mentioned it to my dad one day and he said "oh yeah we used to dump a lot of stuff out there when we built truscott!He'd never said a word over all those years.

Thankyou for the comment. Haven't actually mentioned it in this series but yes, Truscott has a special significance to me as my father died when B24 Liberator A72-80 crashed into Vansittart Bay, just off the Northern end of the Airstrip with the loss of all on board. As far as am aware, the wreckage (and his body) has never been located - so, if you were prawning in the area between Butchers Bay and Mary Island .. perhaps A72-80 tried to grab your nets .. heh.

I fished right thru the whole kimberelys over 10 odd years and we found prawns all over the place but Napier broome had some really mean stuff that never even came up on the sounder!! You'd feel a little pull and the whole footrope (wire) WOULD BE SNAPPED IN HALF LIKE WITH A KNIFE.

Cant think of the name of the island in the middle of NBB but it was full of wild pigs at one stage and they had to wipe them out cos of the TB. got chased by crocs once as well going in for a barbie
