When I was a kid and Bobby came back, I thought "Well what about Katherine?" If they expected us to suspend disbelief the last thing that happened before Pam went to have her dream was Katherine plotting bloody murder. She threw a drinks glass at her TV. A sure sign of homicidal rage! Whatever happened to that huh?

@MrCityboy1968 They devoted a whole season to Bobby death on Knotslanding..with Val naming one of her twins after Bobby..I never forgot Abby having to tell Gary that his brother died..which explains why Abby was able to do what she did during the Empire Valley fiasco..he was depressed with his brother death.

@sara31tx I never thought of that! I don't suppose that Patrick Duffy (or the producers of Dallas or Knots Landing) gave much thought or cared much for continuity when bringing Bobby back. I certainly destroyed Dallas's credibility and was an insulting act by the producers to us loyal fans of both shows. They never recovered.

@MrCityboy1968 yeah and it also raised questions for Knots Landing fans

I think that the producers of Dallas at that time, and Larry Hagman, were all completely wrong to bring Bobby, a character that had been killed off, back into the show. The show never recovered and just went downhill. Patrick Duffy was very selfish in his decision to return to the show. I understand that most of the other actors were furious with his decision because it impacted on their own parts. Look what happened to Donna!

@InTheKnow2011 I think Patrick only managed to find a role in a mini-series ( starring opposite Pamela Sue Martin) in the year after he left Dallas. Back then he was looking for different roles and tired of the Bobby Ewing "Mr Nice Guy" image.

@tenniscollector, I saw that, they even had Greg Sumner reference Gary 'attending his brother's funeral in Dallas'.
After Patrick Duffy came back, the producers on Knots Landing permanently broke with being tied to 'Dallas' and Gary really had nothing to do with the Ewings after that.

First of all, Patrick Duffy's parents were killed just after he came BACK from being off the show for a year. Linda Gray herself said as much because everyone was worried about him.
Secondly, Duffy made (mistakenly) a move to capitalize on his fame from the show to try to springboard into movies. Interestingly enough, no one hired him. Larry Hagman convinced him to come back.
Finally, this is REAL tv drama and great writing, where are the shows like this today? No one cares who Kim K. screws.
