I am sorry some people think making bread is so onerous that they unnecessarily spend tons of money buying an inferior bread in the supermarket. You can throw this recipe together quickly at night, and put it in the refrigerator. Take it out when you get home, follow Julia's second step, then rise it on the counter, form it and put it in the oven. Nowadays, you can use your heavy duty mixer to knead the dough. Easy, costs about 50 cents.

Thanks for posting this, I watched Julia as a youngster and think she is wonderful. I just started learning to bake bread about a year ago with a lot more to learn but this is a great help. The loaves they call French in my area grocery stores are nothing more than elongated hamburger buns. Absolutely no crunchy crust and the interior is is super soft. This should be fun to try and replicate.
homemade always tastes better! :)
